FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What if my story hasn't been published?

Starting in 2025 (submissions begin in 2024), the Valorious Awards will accept both published and unpublished submissions.

Q: Can I enter the competition more than once?

Yes. An author may submit as many different works as they like. Be aware that each submission requires its own entry fee, and a single work can win, at most, one award.

Q: Will I receive any feedback or review on my story?

No. The competition is meant to find and recognize new authors. This is not a review or development contest.

Q: Once the competition is over, will you return my entry?

No. Entries are not returned; please keep a copy for your records.

Q: What if I would like to edit or exchange an entry that I have already submitted?

Edits must be done prior to entering. Once an entry has been submitted, we do not accept edits, replacements, or exchanges. If you wish to re-enter an edited piece, it is considered to be a new entry. We suggest slightly altering the entry title or file name so that you are able to identify the versions should you be selected as a winner.

Q: Is the prize money taxable?

Winners subject to US tax law must fill out and submit their own appropriate tax forms in order to receive their cash awards. If the forms are not submitted within 60 days of the request date, cash awards may be forfeited. Winners subject to the tax laws of any other jurisdiction are responsible for any taxes or other obligations resulting from the awards and prizes they receive.

Q: What are my odds of winning?

This is not a sweepstakes, it is a writing competition. Your work will be judged on its merits, regardless of the total number of entries.

Q: How will I know if I won?

The winners
will be notified via email by June 13, 2025.
